Boise, Idaho – On Saturday, the Idaho Republican State Central Committee, the governing body of the Idaho GOP, met in Moscow, Idaho and voted in support of a change to State Party Rules that will move Idaho’s presidential candidate selection to Super Tuesday, March 6, 2012 and conduct the nominating process through a county by county caucus system. Only Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, South Carolina, and Florida will hold earlier nomination contests. Idaho has 32 delegates at the 2012 Republican National Convention, which is more than Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada.
Madison County’s caucus information is as follows:
- March 6, 2012 at 7:00pm (registration begins at 5:00pm)
- Madison High School
- Citizens must be in the building by 7:00pm, when the voting begins.
If you want to vote in Idaho’s first Republican caucus, which is a meeting to choose a presidential nominee, party rules require that you declare yourself a Republican. This must be done by March 6.
